EU CAP Network magazine - Issue 3

Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges of our time, and its impact on agriculture, forestry and rural areas is profound. This third issue of the EU CAP Network magazine features a variety of inspirational examples and climate-smart solutions for EU farming, forestry and rural areas. It explores the social fabric of rural areas and spotlights the value of women-led innovation in tackling climate challenges. In addition, this edition highlights pollinator-friendly farming and healthy ecosystems for better climate resilience, and takes a closer look at interventions that can help achieve environmental objectives. From an economic perspective, the magazine gives insights into the impact of CAP-funded strategies to improve farm viability and sustainable productivity. It explores lifelong learning as a tool to equip farmers with the right skills to tackle climate change, and closes with an overview of EU CAP Network communication updates.

The EU CAP Network supports the transition to greener practices while maintaining productivity and rural livelihoods, by fostering networking, collaboration, and knowledge exchange. It connects farmers and foresters with researchers, advisors, policymakers and environmental organisations, and shares practical solutions to make them widely accessible, foster their adoption in daily practice, and boost innovation.

Through targeted national actions, the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) provides solutions to help farmers, foresters and rural communities mitigate and adapt to climate change. Linked to its three central goals of promoting social, environmental and economic sustainability in agriculture, forestry and rural areas, the CAP offers a framework for integrating climate action into everyday practice. This can support farmers and foresters in this green transition.
