    Summary

Following discussions with fellow students who had already successfully applied for funding from Measure 6.1 - Installing Young Farmers, Cojocaru Alin, an agronomy student at the Lower Danube Engineering Faculty of Braila, decided to start his own agricultural business.

The beneficiary’s holding covers an area of 56 ha of arable land. The farm is growing 14 ha of grain, 18 ha of maize, 5 ha of peas, 15 ha of sunflowers, 2 ha of melons and 2 ha of alfalfa. RDP support was used to acquire a Pottinger plug with 4 swaths and the beneficiary also used his own funds to buy a 140 hp New Holland T6175.

    Results

The project supported the establishment and development of a new, viable agricultural business.

The Code of Good Agricultural Practices is respected throughout the project; through better soil and water management, reduced pesticide use and through the incorporation of plant residues into the soil.

A part-time employee has been hired, and during peak periods certain tasks are contracted out to individuals and / or to specialised contractors.
