Evaluating Slovenian Farmland Bird Index through common species monitoring

Analysed bird species were classified into categories such as generalists and meadow, non-natural, migratory and non-migrant species. The SIPKK stood at 76.8% in 2021, 4.6% lower than in 2020, with a moderate decline of 2.4% over the study period, stabilising from 2014. Significant drops were noted in grassland species, while generalists showed a slower decline. Notwithstanding recent stability, the overall trend indicates a 'moderate decline', calling for species-specific conservation measures to improve long-term biodiversity.
