The practice of agroforestry is soon to be supported by DEFRA’s Environmental Land Management schemes, with financing most likely falling under the Sustainable Farming Incentives. This is great news for farmers, land managers and others who are keen to see more trees on farms.
However, issues remain around access to land, tenancy agreements and more broadly, integrated land management plans and the wider integration of agroforestry products in the food system.
During the discussion you will have the opportunity to learn from what’s working well for agroforesters from across Europe and discuss resolutions to the key challenges to uptake that were identified in the first workshop: access to land, tenancy agreements, financing and supply chains. These resolutions will form a Policy Brief that will be disseminated later this year and will feed into the AGROMIX summit which will be held in Brussels 2024.
