Subgroup on CAP Strategic Plans - 7th meeting

The meeting included ample space for interactive sessions where members of this Subgroup of the EU CAP Network governance developed concrete proposals for topics to be tackled in the Annual Work Plan (AWP) of the EU CAP Network in 2026-2027.

Five topics were selected for further development and alignment with those identified by other Subgroups and with the European Commission's priorities: changing the rural narratives, food security and access to food, risk management, environmental resilience, and support for technical discussions on CAP design and implementation.

Subgroup members received updates on recent and upcoming EU CAP Network activities related to CAP implementation, including Thematic Groups, followed by updates from DG AGRI on the implementation of the Vision for Agriculture and Food. As in all governance meetings, members had the invaluable opportunity to ask for clarifications and share their views with the Commission during the Q&A sessions.

A panel on ‘Communicating the CAP effectively’ showcased innovative communication initiatives from across Europe, illustrating how different stakeholders engage farmers and the public to improve understanding and uptake of the CAP. After a series of presentations by National Networks and EU NGOs, members were invited to share comments and ideas, which further inspired their activities.
