Subgroup on CAP Strategic Plans - 6th meeting

The main focus of the meeting was an initial exchange on the European Commission’s proposal for the post-2027 Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), adopted in July 2025, as well as an interactive session based on the outcomes of the EU CAP Network seminar ’Delivering the CAP Today and Beyond'. These discussions were intended to underline the importance of looking ahead while also reflecting on the ongoing implementation of the current CAP Strategic Plans (CSPs).

Based on this, the first part of the meeting focused on updates on recent EU-level policy developments, provided by the European Commission - DG AGRI. This was an opportunity to better explain the future of the new National and Regional Partnership Plans (NRPPs) and the role of the CAP, with a helpful Q&A session to clarify questions from the audience.

Subgroup members then received updates on recent and upcoming activities within the EU CAP Network, particularly past and ongoing Thematic Groups, which help address critical challenges such as economic vulnerability in farming, the societal value of farmers, simplification within the CAP and water resilience in rural areas, and discussed how the CAP is critical to unlocking the potential of cooperation.

Subgroup members then engaged in an interactive session, building on the findings from the EU CAP Network Seminar ‘Delivering the CAP today and beyond’. They worked collaboratively to select the most relevant findings and translate them into concrete steps to take within their own contexts. Areas of action range from digital tools for simplification to supporting collective approaches, from bringing young people to the table to integrating risk management and climate adaptation.
