HORTICOL SEEDS RESILIENT TO DROUGHT
SEMILLAS HORTICOLAS RESILIENTES A LA SEQUIA
Objectives
The objective of this proposal is to introduce new varieties of tomato, pepper, and broccoli into the region of Murcia adapted to a crop with limited water resources meeting the requirement of adequate productivity as well as high quality and high market potential. For this, an innovation project is proposed that demonstrates the use of horticultural varieties that are resistant to water stress conditions. Such behaviour has already been contrasted in other cultivation areas in (Herault, France) and in previous research projects developed by IMIDA.
Objectives
El objetivo de esta propuesta es introducir en la Región de Murcia nuevas variedades de tomate, pimiento y brócoli adaptadas a un cultivo con recursos hídricos limitados y que cumplan con requisitos de adecuada productividad, alta calidad y con elevado potencial de mercado. Para ello se propone proyecto de innovación que demuestre el uso de variedades hortícolas resilientes a condiciones de estrés hídrico, cuyo comportamiento ya ha sido contrastado en otras zonas de cultivo (Herault, Francia) y en proyectos de investigación previos desarrollado por el IMIDA.
Activities
A1 - Selection of varieties. A2‐ Crop development. A3 - Performance Characterization and Analysis. A4 .‐ Evaluation of production quality. In this action, the evaluation of the quality of the production obtained under the conditions of water stress will be carried out; is is to say, once the samples are taken at the optimum moment of ripening, physical, and chemical parameters that define the organoleptic and nutritional value of the varieties will be measured. A5-Seed Extraction In this action, varieties with economic interest for the Murcia region will be identified based on their low water consumption and their organoleptic characteristics (prototypes).
Activities
A1 –Selección variedades. A2.‐ Desarrollo de cultivos. A3 – Caracterización y análisis del Rendimiento.
A4 .‐ Evaluación de la calidad de la producción. En esta acción se realizará la evaluación de la calidad de la producción obtenida bajo las condiciones de estrés hídrico, una vez tomada la muestras en el momento óptimo de maduración se medirán parámetros físicos y químicos que definan el valor organoléptico y nutricional de las variedades.
A-5 Extracción de semillas En esta acción se procederá a identificar las variedades con interés económico para la Región de Murcia en función de su bajo consumode agua y sus características organolépticas (prototipos).
