BetterBio: Support locally the technical development of sugar beet from organic farming.
BetterBio : Accompagner localement le développement technique de la betterave sucrière issue de l’agriculture biologique.
Objectives
Create references in organic sugar beet production to support the establishment of this new sector in Normandy. A multi-year experimental platform is planned in order to test and evaluate cultivation practices with two main objectives: technically, to do without herbicides by relying on precision agriculture, of fungicides on leaf diseases and on the organizational plan by involving all the players in the chain, starting with beet growers.

Créer des références en production de betterave sucrière en agriculture biologique pour accompagner la mise en place de cette nouvelle filière en Normandie. Une plateforme expérimentale pluriannuelle est envisagée afin de tester et évaluer des conduites de culture avec deux principaux objectifs : sur le plan technique se passer d’herbicide en s’appuyant sur l’agriculture de précision, de fongicides sur les maladies du feuillage et sur le plan organisationnel en impliquant l’ensemble des acteurs de la chaîne en partant des betteraviers.

Action 1: animation and project monitoring
Action 2: Establishment and evaluation of a multi-year experimental platform: determination of the experimental protocol before each start of the campaign, implementation of three experimental platforms for a farmer (one per year), evaluation of the platform
Action 3: Exchange and dissemination of lessons learned from the project (written communication for the dissemination of results, organization of events for the exchange and transfer of technical information)

Action 2 : Mise en place et évaluation d’une plateforme expérimentale pluriannuelle : détermination du protocole expérimental avant chaque début de campagne, mise en œuvre de trois plateformes expérimentales chez un agriculteur (une par an), évaluation de la plateforme
Action 3 : Echanges et diffusion des enseignements issus du projet (communication écrite pour la diffusion des résultats, organisation d’événements pour l’échange et le transfert d’informations techniques)
