The EIP-AGRI Support Facility supports the CAP goals for social sustainability in agriculture, forestry and rural areas. Keep an eye out for an upcoming brochure on social innovation, results from the Focus Group ‘Social farming and innovations’ or see the outcomes from the EIP-AGRI seminar on (social) innovation in EU forestry.
Through its networking activities and publications, the EIP-AGRI Support Facility supports all nine objectives of the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) for 2023-2027, as well as the cross-cutting objective on modernisation, knowledge sharing and innovation, and digitalisation. This also includes support for the CAP goals on social sustainability in agriculture, forestry and rural areas.
A number of networking activities have paid special attention to the topic of social innovation, with more to come in 2023 and the coming years:
- The EU CAP Network Focus Group on ‘Social farming and innovations’, organised in the first half of 2023, explores how social farming can contribute to innovation in agriculture, while strengthening the multifunctional role of agriculture, and connecting people from urban and rural areas.
- The results from the EU CAP Network workshop ‘Young entrepreneurs – Engines of innovation in rural areas’ spotted the great potential that social innovation has to support young entrepreneurship and rural innovation. Find all results and the upcoming report on the event webpage.
- Social innovation was one of the focus points in the EIP-AGRI seminar ‘Turning forest innovation into practice’, held in November 2021. All presentations and results, including a final report, are available online.
- Read the press article on InnoLAWI, the German Operational Group that develops job opportunities in the agricultural sector for people with disabilities.
- Read the inspirational idea article on ‘bio&co’ social farm in Romania creating jobs for vulnerable communities near Bucharest.
- Looking ahead: The Support Facility for Innovation and Knowledge exchange | EIP-AGRI will publish a brochure on social innovation in the summer of 2023, highlighting inspiring innovative projects.
