    Context

Pazikoland is an organic farm run by Magdalena and Kamil Pazik - young entrepreneurs from the Młodzieszyn commune in Stare Budy in the district of Sochaczew in Poland. Mr and Mrs Pazik have a passion for agriculture and aim to produce certified organic products of the highest quality. The farm, with an area of about 15 ha, has held an Organic Farming certificate since 2018. The farm grows vegetables and cereals and raises laying hens in a closed loop system. The farm runs a processing business offering pickled cucumbers, sauerkraut, wheat, spelt and rye flour. Pazikoland has its own online shop where goods can be ordered for delivery.

The owners, Magdalena and Kamil Pazik, promote the values of organic production and a sustainable way of doing business and living. They cooperate with the Ecological Folk High School in Grzybów (see study visit 3), participate in the ‘Good Harvest' national convention of organic farmers, receive groups of students, e.g. from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) and the Ecological Folk High School, and share their knowledge at the Expo Fair in Nadarzyn.

    Objectives

The farm set up the ‘Pazikoland’ EIP Operational Group. The main goal of the project was to establish a short food supply chain for the distribution and sale of flour, potatoes, sauerkraut and cheese by a group of five farmers. To support the collaborative development of the project, it was necessary to purchase some vital equipment such as a piece of cheese-making machinery and an articulated loader for transport. The aim was to increase sales and income for the five farms involved.

    Activities

    The main activities included:

    • The purchase of an articulated loader.
    • The purchase of a cheese-making machine.

    Main results

    The following results were obtained:

    • Increased effectiveness through the articulated loader.
    • Development of new products and a new source of income.
    • Significantly improved sales opportunities through collaboration with other farms, creating an income of 20 244 (EUR) in 2022.

    Key lessons

    • The project enabled the participants to discover further opportunities for cooperation between farms in their region.
