Join us at the 8th Mediterranean Forest Week, taking place from 4 to 7 November in Barcelona, Spain. This event will bring together researchers, policymakers, and key stakeholders to explore the future of Mediterranean forests.

Join us at the 8th Mediterranean Forest Week, taking place from 4 to 7 November in Barcelona, Spain. This event will bring together researchers, policymakers, and key stakeholders to explore the future of Mediterranean forests.

The event is organised by the Joint Organising Committee (JOC), which is made up of 15 organisations, led by the FAO and the European Forest Institute Mediterranean Facility (EFIMED). Attendees can look forward to a rich and varied programme.

The week will feature six plenary sessions with top speakers and expert panellists, each supported by preparatory webinars:

  • Session 1 - Building resilience: restoration strategies and policies for Mediterranean forest ecosystems
  • Session 2 - Climate change mitigation and adaptation in Mediterranean forests
  • Session 3 - Mediterranean forest biodiversity
  • Session 4 - Wildfire prevention and post-fire restoration
  • Session 5 - Green cities for adaptation and resilience: co-benefits for human health, environment, and society
  • Session 6 - Forest-related development cooperation and financial instruments for the Mediterranean

The week offers a diverse selection of 16 side events, taking place on 4, 5 and 7 November between 17.00 and 18.30 each day, led by guest institutions that will provide a unique opportunity to delve into specialised topics, connect with experts, and explore innovative ideas for restoring and managing Mediterranean forest ecosystems. A youth dialogue will also be held on 4 November, revisiting the themes of the 7th Mediterranean Forest Week, with a focus on restoration.

The event will include a field trip, with a choice of three locations, aimed at delivering in-depth knowledge and practical learning on Mediterranean forest-related issues.
