The European Commission (EC), Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI), and the European Investment Bank (EIB) are organising the 'Insurance and access to finance for farm resilience and adaptation in the EU' event.

Throughout the day, experts and policymakers will address the critical challenges and opportunities in securing the agricultural sector against climate change and safeguarding its access to finance. Key topics will include, inter alia, the overview, classification, state of play and role of agriculture insurance systems in the EU, alongside the expected impact of climate change on ten selected Member States, the use of reinsurance and catastrophe bonds, the building blocks of a coherent EU risk management system, and how to cater for efficient and effective public-private partnerships to ensure continued access to finance for transition and adaptation in agriculture in the EU.

The conference will build on the new fi-compass study 'Insurance and Risk Management Tools for Agriculture in the EU', the results of which will be presented at the conference.

The conference is aimed at EAFRD managing authorities, banks and insurance companies active in the agriculture sector, experts, farm unions’ representatives, European Investment Bank Group and European Commission officials interested in EAFRD financial instruments.
