Highlights report - 2nd meeting of the Thematic Group on Gen Z: Leading Generational Renewal in Farming

At the second Thematic Group (TG) meeting, participants focused on supporting diverse farmer profiles for generational renewal in agriculture. They discussed policies to aid young farmers, addressing sustainability, profitability, and community collaboration. The meeting included presentations on land access solutions and interactive sessions exploring tailored policies, financing, and support to ensure young farmers' success.

The meeting included a reporting session focused on the outcomes of two informal meetings organised and led by TG members, respectively on sustainability and profitability in farming, and on community and collaboration in agriculture. This was then followed by a series of presentations by other TG members on good practices adopted in Austria, France, Ireland and Flanders (Belgium) to foster generational renewal in agriculture.

Dynamic interactive sessions allowed TG members to identify the key policies and enablers for young(er) farmers pursuing sustainable and profitable careers, and to define action-oriented recommendations addressing decision-makers at different levels.
