Invasive neophytes such as Giant Hogweed displace native species, pose health hazards to humans and animals, and cause high ecological costs. The project aims to develop a robust (semi-)autonomous robot for herbicide-free mechanical control of such plants. The system will operate efficiently, safely, and in real-world field conditions, even in difficult terrain like slopes, water edges, or woodland margins. The robot uses AI to detect target plants and distinguish them from obstacles. It can operate manually or autonomously and is designed for practical use by farmers and landscape managers. The project will deliver a functioning robot prototype equipped with AI and multiple sensor systems to accurately detect and mechanically destroy Giant Hogweed. It will operate in both manual and autonomous modes and will be tested under real field conditions.
