In the selection schemes, the first selected characters were production characters xith qualifying or not animals conformed to the breed standard. Today, the phenotype of the sheep becomes a major racial question for breeders by socially marking their attachment to the breed they have on farm. Thus, the questioning in Manech Tête Noire, on the possibility of improving the standard, mainly on the cornering of animals but also the horns color back in the discussions and was studied in the framework of the PEI. Three years of measurements have allowed genetics values (heritability, correlations, indexing) of these new traits by creating tools adapted to the necessary measures. The horn characters in particular, measured with a suitable square, on all animals of 1 year old allows to highlight a heritability of the character (0.3 to 0.4) with a possible selection pressure thanks to the current functioning of the collective scheme.
The breeders will have to define, in the orientations, and in the construction of a synthetic index, the part given to productive characters and the part given to phenotypics characters.

Dans les schémas de sélection, les premiers caractères sélectionnés ont été des caractères de production en qualifiant ou non les animaux conformes au standart de la race. Aujourd'hui, le phénotype de la brebis devient un élément racial majeur pour les éleveurs marquant socialement leur attachement à la race qu'ils élèvent. Ainsi, le questionnement en Manech Tête Noire, sur la possibilité d'améliorer le standart, principalement sur le cornage des animaux mais également la couleur revient dans les discussions et à été étudié dans le cadre du PEI? 3 années de mesures ont permis une valorisation génétique (héritabilité, correlétions, indexation) de ces nouveaux caractères en créant des outils adaptés aux mesures nécessaires. Les caractères de cornage en particulier, mesurés avec une équerre adaptée, sur l'ensemble des animaux de 1 an permet de mettre en évidence une héritabilité du caractère (0.3 à 0.4) avec une pression de sélection possible grace au fonctionnement actuel du schéma collectif.
Les éleveurs auront à définir, dans les orientations, et dans la construction d'un index synthétique la part accordée aux caractères productifs et la part accordée aux caractères phénotypiques.
