The aim of the planned cooperation project is to develop static-constructive and building physics principles for the design and verification of straw bale masonry.

Ziel des geplanten Kooperationsvorhabens ist es, statisch-konstruktive und bauphysikalische Grundlagen für die Bemessung und Nachweisführung von Strohballenmauerwerk zu erarbeiten.
Activities
The starting point for classifying the load-bearing straw bales should be preconditioned straw bales to which defined parameters can be assigned. The targeted pre-stressing should generate residual stress states in the straw bales that allow the wall construction material to be classified independently of the properties of the starting material. The laboratory values determined will be tested on a demonstrator using appropriate measurement technology. The straw bale masonry is exposed to real load situations caused by temperature, precipitation and wind.

Ausgangspunkt für eine Klassifizierung der lastabtragenden Strohballen sollen vorkonditionierte Strohballen sein, denen definierte Parameter zugeordnet werden können. Die gezielten Vorbeanspruchungen sollen in den Strohballen Eigenspannungszustände erzeugen, die eine Klassifizierung des Wandbaustoffs unabhängig von den Eigenschaften des Ausgangsmaterials ermöglichen. Die Überprüfung der ermittelten Laborwerte wird an einem Demonstrator mit entsprechender Messtechnik erfolgen. Dabei ist das Strohballenmauerwerk realen Belastungssituationen durch Temperatur, Niederschlag und Wind ausgesetzt.
