Objectives
The increasing incidence of the fungus Sclerotium rolfsii in the traditional producing areas of potato cultivation in Andalusia causes significant losses of post-harvest production. The presence of this fungus, also favored in a scenario of climate change and increased temperatures, puts the future of potato cultivation in Andalusia at serious risk. In order to avoid further spread of the fungus and in the current absence of an effective solution, the project will develop innovative strategies for the early detection and implementation of good farming practices for the effective control of S. rolfsii.
Activities
Evaluation of the varietal resistance of potatoes under controlled conditions; Evaluation of chemical and biological products against S. rolfsii in potatoes inoculated artificially under controlled conditions; Evaluation of products and methods of pathogen control in tests carried out in field conditions. Organization of informative acts and publication of Guide of Good Farming practices for the prevention of Sclerotium rolfsii in potato.
