Objectives
Recognising the early signs of diseases is key to improve animal health and welfare – this in turn will enhance food quality and decrease the costly loss of livestock. NADIS, the UK National Animal Disease Information Service, has developed a unique online animal health resource for farmers and livestock keepers. The information is written by veterinary experts and presented in a practical format with a high visual clinical content to improve disease awareness. (see additional information field)

Additional information
NADIS, the UK National Animal Disease Information Service, has developed a unique online animal health resource for farmers and livestock keepers:
*Self-assessment and certificates:
The online bulletins (“The A-Z of diseases”) comprehensively cover diseases affecting cattle and sheep in the UK, at the end of each bulletin a set of multiple choice questions can be used as a self-assessment of the key learning points in the text. The questions are marked electronically and a NADIS Animal Health certificate will be mailed to the participant immediately with his or her name, disease the training has been based on and the score.
*Parasite Forecast and Disease Alert:
NADIS also publishes a monthly parasite forecast for farmers and livestock keepers, which outlines the parasitic challenge facing cattle and sheep in the different regions of the UK. It is used to promote SCOPS recommendations (SCOPS – Sustainable Control of Parasites) in a seasonal context and underlines the importance of parasite control.
The monthly disease alerts highlight diseases that are particularly prevalent/frequent for that time of the year.
*NADIS A-Z App FREE to download NADIS is currently working:
NADIS is currently working to convert the entire NADIS website disease A-Z to App format so users can look up all diseases affecting livestock and view the latest Parasite Forecast and Disease Alert webinars whilst on the go.
