Objectives

Short food supply chains occur when farmers sell their produce directly to consumers or with a minimum of intermediaries. They represent an alternative to conventional longer food chains where small farmers often have little bargaining power and consumers cannot trace the food to a known producer or local area. The project aims to identify and address the needs of farming businesses with regards to direct marketing of produce, butchery skills, customer relationship management and end user requirements in order to secure long term, short supply chains. In addition, this project will encourage the next generation of primary producers to develop their business skills and encourage self-sufficiency.

Objectives

Caiff cadwyni cyflenwi byr eu sefydlu pan mae ffermwyr yn gwerthu eu cynnyrch yn uniongyrchol i gwsmeriaid neu gydag ychydig iawn o gyfryngwyr. Maent yn cynrychioli dewis arall i gadwyni cyflenwi hir confensiynol ble nad oes gan ffermwyr llai llawer o bŵer bargeinio ac nid yw'n bosib i'r cwsmeriaid ddilyn eu bwyd yn nôl i gynhyrchydd lleol neu ardal leol. Bydd y prosiect yn anelu at ganfod anghenion busnesau ffermio mewn cyd-destun marchnata cynnyrch, sgiliau bwtsiera a rheoli perthynas cwsmeriaid er mwyn sicrhau cadwyn gynhyrchu fer yn y tymor hir. Yn ogystal, bydd y prosiect hwn yn annog y genhedlaeth nesaf o gynhyrchwyr cynradd i ddatblygu eu sgiliau busnes ac annog hunangynhaliaeth.

Activities

The  group  will  take  part  in  a  series  of workshops  with  technical  experts,  in  order  to  develop resources  in  administration,  marketing,  communication and  product  preparation. The producers will implement the resources that they  will have developed through the workshops. The group will prepare knowledge exchange resources aimed at primary producers, providing clear, practical guidance on the steps that can be taken to develop and manage a short supply chain in a commercial farming context. These resources will take the form of leaflets, factsheets, manuals, infographics or other formats.

Activities

Bydd y grŵp yn cymryd rhan mewn cyfres o weithdai gydag arbenigwyr technegol er mwyn datblygu eu sgiliau mewn gweinyddu, marchnata, cyfathrebu a pharatoi cynnyrch. Bydd y grŵp yn paratoi adnoddau cyfnewid gwybodaeth fydd yn darparu arweiniad clir ac ymarferol ar y camau sydd yn medru cael ei gymryd i ddatblygu a rheoli cadwyn gyflenwi fyr mewn cyd-destun ffermio masnachol. Gallai'r adnoddau gymryd ffurf mewn taflenni ffeithiau, llawlyfrau neu infograffeg neu ffurfiau eraill.

1 Practice Abstracts

In 2015, the Cambrian Mountains Beef Group established a successful, short supply chain with a large catering butcher who supplies hotels and high-end restaurants. The five farming businesses in the group have worked hard to get to this stage and want to develop their group further in order to manage and expand their market in a self-sustainable manner. Through the project, the farmers will develop the skills and knowledge they need to sustain the short supply chain in the long term by taking part in a number of workshops that will look into the following areas:

Customer relationship management

Product promotion

Understanding the requirements of the end user

Red meat processing and butchery

Effective engagement in the supply chain

Managing social media

Website management

Invoicing, tax returns and administration

The group will then prepare knowledge exchange resources aimed at primary producers, providing clear, practical guidance on the steps that can be taken to develop and manage a short supply chain.Short supply chains have the opportunity to move quickly to meet market demands, anticipate market trends and embrace opportunities. They actively promote high quality production,  good farming practice and care of the environment as a key ‘Unique Selling Point’ for produce from Wales.

Yn 2015, fe sefydlwyd Grwp Eidion Mynyddoedd Cambrian gadwyn gyflenwi fer llwyddiannus gyda chigydd arlwyo mawr sy'n cyflewni gwestai a thai bwyta lefel uchel. Mae'r pum busnes ffermio yn y grŵp wedi gweithio'n galed I gyrraedd y cam hwn a mae'nt eiso rheoli ac ehangu eu marchnad mewn modd hunan-gynaliadwy. Drwy'r prosiect, bydd ffermwyr yn datblygu'r sgiliau a'r wybodaeth sydd eu hangen arnyny i gynnal y gadwyn gyflenwi fer yn y tymor hir trwy gymryd rhan mewn nifer o weithdai a fydd yn edrych i'r meysydd canlynol:

Rheoli perthynas cwsmeriaid

Hyrwyddo llysgenhadol / cynnyrch

Deall gofynion y defnyddiwr terfynol

Bwtsiera a phrosesu cig coch

Chwarae rôl effeithiol yn y gadwyn gyflenwi

Rheoli’r cyfryngau cymdeithasol

Rheoli’r wefan

Anfonebu, datganiad treth incwm a gweinyddu

Bydd y grŵp yn paratoi adnoddau cyfnewid gwybodaeth sydd wedi'u hanelu at gynhyrchwyr cynradd, gan roi arweiniad ymarferol clir ar y camau y gellir eu cymryd i ddatblygu a rheoli cadwyn gyflenwi fyr. Mae gan gadwyni cyflenwad y cyfle i addasu yn gyflym i fodloni gofynion y farchnad, rhagweld tueddiadau'r farchnad ac yn agored i gyfleoedd newydd. Maent yn hyrwyddo cynhyrchiad o safon uchel, arferiad ffermio da a gofal yr amgylchedd fel 'pwynt gwerthu unigryw' allweddol ar gyfer cynnyrch o Gymru.
