1 Practice Abstracts
The expected result will be the configuration, development, execution and validation of a real carbon farming (CF) program aimed to certify and verify C removals in agricultural soils and which contains the rules and procedures suitable for the official approval by the European Union within the CRCF regulation.
The best available CF practices will be integrated in an series of Carbon Action Plan and will be tested in 11 farms of Emilia Romagna to generate two types of certificates allowed by the EU: certificates of temporary net C removals certificates of net reduction of soil emissions. Two types of cropping systems will be addressed by the CF: the cultivation of industrial tomato in the province of Piacenza and the cultivation of cereals typical of the Emilia-Romagna area. An hybrid MRV approach combining soil sampling, models and remote sensing will be applied to quantify and verify C removals and soil emissions reductions and uncertainty of the estimated removals as well.
Il risultato atteso sarà la configurazione, lo sviluppo, l'esecuzione e la validazione di un vero e proprio schema di certificazione e verifica degli assorbimenti del carbonio (C) che contenga le metodologie e le norme idonee al riconoscimento ufficiale da parte della Commissione Europea. In 11 aziende agricole del territorio emiliano romagnolo si andranno a testare le migliori tecniche di carbon farming per generare due tipologie di crediti del carbonio ammessi dal regolamento europeo: i certificati di assorbimento netto temporaneo del C e i certificati di riduzione netta delle emissioni dal suolo. Due sono le tipologie di sistemi produttivi interessati dal programma di CF: la coltivazione del pomodoro da industria della provincia di Piacenza e la coltivazione di cereali tipica dell'areale emiliano romagnolo. Verranno applicate metodologie ibride (campionamento a terra, modelli, telerilevamento) per quantificare e verificare gli assorbimenti di C, la riduzione delle emissioni e l'incertezza associata a tali stime.
