Kontext
De kringloopboeren in Utrecht-Oost hebben onvoldoende mogelijkheden om maatwerk toe te passen bij het sluiten van kringlopen.
Objectives
● Developing concepts to arrive at tailor-made solutions at company level and in that way realize the closing of cycles. This keeps soil fertility up to standard and creates more coherence with other social issues such as water quality, climate, nature, biodiversity and ultimately lower operating costs.
● Drafting a functional business plan for the farmer.
● Improve communication with the environment on environmental and water targets.
Objectives
● Ontwikkelen van concepten om tot maatwerk op bedrijfsniveau te komen en zo het sluiten van kringlopen te kunnen bewerkstelligen. Hierdoor wordt bodemvruchtbaarheid op peil gehouden en ontstaat er meer samenhang met andere maatschappelijke opgaves zoals waterkwaliteit, klimaat, natuur, biodiversiteit en uiteindelijk lagere bedrijfskosten.
● Opstellen van een functioneel bedrijfsplan voor de boer.
● Verbetering van de communicatie met de omgeving inzake milieu- en waterdoelen.
Activities
● The use of innovative instruments such as the Company-specific Nitrogen Soil Surplus (BES) and Company-specific Nitrate (BEN) to be able to steer company-specific.
● An integral nature-inclusive business plan is developed to realize coherence between the loop and all other (area) tasks such as soil and water quality, water-retaining capacity, biodiversity, nature, landscape and meadow bird management.

● Het inzetten van innovatieve instrumenten als het Bedrijfsspecifieke Stikstofbodemoverschot (BES) en Bedrijfsspecifieke Nitraat (BEN) om bedrijfsspecifieker te kunnen sturen.
● Een integraal natuurinclusief bedrijfsplan wordt ontwikkeld om samenhang te realiseren tussen de kringloop en alle andere (gebieds-)opgaven zoals bodem- en waterkwaliteit, watervasthoudend vermogen, biodiversiteit, natuur-, landschaps- en weidevogelbeheer.

End result
In the project concrete steps have been taken in developing routes towards circular agriculture. On the basis of a series of pilots within the themes of soil, nature, feed, cow and manure, 10 different farms have worked on business optimization in the broadest sense of the word. Their positive contribution to the environment and the landscape has thus been made transparent and the results offer concrete tools to inspire other companies within and outside Utrecht East as well. The pilots also highlighted bottlenecks that currently hinder farmers to further develop circular agriculture. This project therefore provides a set of policy advice for governments, water boards, farmers' organizations, etc. with which they can facilitate farmers in their further transition. In this way, government and farmers can continue to work together to realize circular agriculture within Utrecht-East and to ensure a vital countryside.

Eindresultaat
In het project zijn concrete stappen gezet in het ontwikkelen van routes richting kringlooplandbouw. Aan de hand van een reeks pilots binnen de thema’s bodem, natuur, voer, koe en mest is samen met 10 uiteenlopende boerenbedrijven gewerkt aan bedrijfsoptimalisatie in de breedste zin van het woord. Hun positieve bijdrage aan de omgeving en het landschap is hiermee inzichtelijk gemaakt en de uitkomsten bieden concrete handvatten om ook andere bedrijven binnen en buiten Utrecht-Oost te inspireren. Uit de pilots kwamen ook knelpunten naar voren die boeren momenteel belemmeren om kringlooplandbouw verder in te vullen. Dit project levert daarom een set aan beleidsadviezen op voor overheden, waterschappen, de boerenorganisaties etc. waarmee ze boeren kunnen faciliteren in hun verdere transitie. Zo kunnen overheid en boer blijven samenwerken om kringlooplandbouw binnen Utrecht-Oost te realiseren en te zorgen voor de waarborging van een vitaal platteland.
