Objectives
The final objective of the BIOLIVAR project (Monitoring, optimization and valorization of the natural capital in the cultivation of olive groves in integrated production in Andalusia) is the development, validation and dissemination of a strategy to optimize the natural capital in olive groves in integrated production valid for a wide types of farms, including in this strategy the tool for their assessment by agents unrelated to olive production. Through this objective, the BIOLIVAR project aims to support the regional and national administration.

1 Practice Abstracts
The project is built based on a key need of the olive sector: it is necessary to know how to improve management at farm level, with valid strategies for multiple types of olive groves, to make profitable and quality production sustainable with an improvement in the biodiversity and sustainable use of soil and water.
In the current situation, this need can only be met for some specific types of olive groves (by production system, type of soil, slope, climate, landscapes) and even in these many farms they do not have the tools to make management decisions. appropriate to your reality and the specific conditions of a campaign.
Expected results
1- Preparation of an action guide to improve natural capital applicable to the specific characteristics of each olive farm. Although designed from an integrated olive grove, this guide could be extrapolated to the vast majority of other olive grove production systems.
2- Development of a digital tool available to technicians and farmers to guide decision-making for the improvement of the natural capital of the olive grove that escapes exploitation.
3- Improvement of ecosystem services (biodiversity, soil, water, carbon sequestration) and of the circular bioeconomy in the network of collaborating farms and in other owner farms that participate in dissemination actions.
4- Development of a natural capital assessment tool at farm level for monitoring and/or certification.
