1 Practice Abstracts

The goal of the project is to develop a biodegradable binder that can hold plant substrates together during the 6-12 weeks required for hydroponic cultivation. The binder will be developed with the goal of being able to bind peat but could theoretically be used for other substrate types. The support is sought to produce a number of samples which will then undergo lab tests and cultivation trials. The results are continuously evaluated to adjust the binder composition, concentration and method of application. At the end of the project, a commercially viable product must be available for the market.

Målet med projektet är att ta fram ett biologiskt nedbrytbart bindemedel som klarar av att hålla ihop växtsubstrat under de 6-12 veckor som krävs för hydroponisk odling. Bindemedlet kommer att utvecklas med målet att kunna binda torv men skulle teoretiskt kunna användas för andra substrat-typer. Stödet söks för att producera ett flertal prover som sedan ska genomgå labb-tester samt odlingsförsök. Resultaten utvärderas kontinuerligt för att justera bindemedelssammansättning, koncentration och applikationssätt. Vid slutet av projektet ska en kommersiellt gångbar produkt finnas tillgänglig för marknaden.
