European Seminar on Agrobiodiversity & SAVE Annual Meeting

Speakers from the FAO, universities, and NGOs will present recent knowledge and projects on the conservation of animal and plant genetic resources. This year, the focus will be on “Traditional livestock breeds and crop varieties in times of climate change”. A field trip to see actors in agrobiodiversity conservation in the Piemontese will also be organized.

At the meeting, the Arca-Deli® Award will be presented. The Arca-Deli® Award is a prestigious award for delicacies and/or innovative services offered by keepers and breeders of traditional livestock breeds or crops/plant varieties. Applications can now be submitted for judging.

The meeting is open to all who are interested in agrobiodiversity.

The SAVE Foundation (Safeguard of Agricultural Varieties in Europe), in collaboration with its local partner, is organising the meeting. The European Seminar on Agrobiodiversity will be hosted by the Italian partner Associazione R.A.R.E. – Razze Autoctone a Rischio di Estinzione, and will take place at the University of Torino.

The SAVE Foundation is a pan-European umbrella organisation with the purpose of networking organisations that strive to conserve agrobiodiversity, the biodiversity in agriculture. SAVE Foundation works with a wide range of local stakeholders to characterise and monitor threatened biodiversity and to increase capacities, promote in-situ/on-farm conservation, and provide knowledge, information, and practical support.
