Practical learning across borders

Call open for three cross-visits which will take place during the week of 15 June 2026. The three topics covered are:

The call is open until 20 February 2026, 23:59 CET. Members of EIP-AGRI Operational Groups (OGs) can apply to host and/or participate in a cross-visit on one of the topics. It is possible to apply to host a cross-visit as well as to attend as a participant.

The precise date and location of the cross-visits will be announced in the second half of March 2026, once the host EIP-AGRI Operational Groups have been selected.

Joining an EU CAP Network cross-visit allows farmers, foresters, advisors, researchers and other EIP-AGRI Operational Group members to share results, build connections, and gain fresh perspectives.

What are cross-visits?

An EU CAP Network cross-visit brings together EIP-AGRI Operational Group projects (OGs) from across Europe to share hands-on experiences, compare approaches, and inspire new ideas on a specific topic. They offer a unique opportunity to see practical solutions in action and learn directly from peers working to overcome similar challenges.

Objectives of cross-visits

The main objective of cross-visits is to foster in-depth, transnational exchanges of knowledge by connecting OGs from different Member States that are active in the same field of work.

OGs generate new knowledge and valuable experiences. OGs tackling similar challenges may produce different results and benefit from learning from each other. Projects working on complementary issues may be inspired by others, while new OGs addressing similar issues may emerge in other regions and countries. To build upon the knowledge created and maximise its potential impact, interactions between projects and across borders are essential.

Specific objectives

  • Foster peer-to-peer learning: provide OGs with a platform to learn from each other's experiences, innovations, and best practices. Participants gain insights into different approaches to tackling common agricultural challenges
  • Exchange innovative practices: facilitate the exchange of innovative solutions and technologies developed within OG projects. Participants assess the applicability of these innovations in their own regions.
  • Discuss challenges and solutions: create an opportunity for OGs to discuss shared challenges, bottlenecks and potential solutions. Collaborative problem-solving and knowledge sharing are encouraged.
  • Disseminate project findings: promote the dissemination of project findings and outcomes beyond individual OGs. This contributes to the wider adoption of successful practices and innovations across the EU.
  • Establish collaborations and partnerships: encourage OGs to explore opportunities for future collaborations, partnerships and joint projects. This enhances the impact of EU CAP Network initiatives.

What is the role of the host Operational Group

Each cross-visit includes one or more field visit(s) hosted by an EIP-AGRI Operational Group. The field visits are attended by the other cross-visit participants representing OGs working on similar or complementary topics. The host should be able to demonstrate concrete and relevant (intermediate or final) results from their OG project. The host OG benefits from the possibility to showcase the solution(s) that they developed and exchange with the visiting OGs, as well as from increased visibility through promotion and dissemination of the OG and the solutions developed, through EU CAP Network communication products, linked with the cross-visit and its outcomes. The host is also expected to help provide the organising team with information for the practical organisation of the cross-visit (e.g. guidance for logistics) and to participate in the entire programme of the event. The hosting OG does not need to contribute financially.
