Könssortering av ägg med gassensorer
Kontext
Idag avlivas nykläckta tuppkycklingar eftersom de inte lägger ägg och ger för magert kött. Att kunna sortera ut äggen innan de kläcks och på så sätt kunna använda tuppkycklingsäggen i matproduktion skulle vara en vinst etiskt, ekonomiskt och miljömässigt.
Objectives
The aim is to further develop the technique that exist regarding determing the sex on hen eggs by using the gases the eggs emits. The projekt want to develop the technique so it works on other eggs than white eggs from hens that have gone a fixed diet. The aim is also to cut down on the time it takes to analyse the eggs. In the long run this projekt could lead to that eggs containing cockerels would be able to go in food production instead of being thrown away.
Objectives
Målet är att vidareutveckla den teknik som idag finns för att könsbestämma hönsägg med hjälp av de gaser som äggen emitterar. Man vill kunna utveckla tekniken så den fungerar på andra ägg än de vita från höns som har gått på en konstant diet. Man vill även få ner tiden som analyseringen av äggen tar. I slutändan skulle detta leda till att de ägg innehållande tuppkycklingar skulle kunna gå in i matproduktion och inte slängas.

Continue to develop the existing technique on sorting hens eggs by sex by the gases they emit and develop it so it going faster to determinate and works on more types of hens eggs.

Fortsätta utvackla tekniken som finns för att könssortera hönsägg med hjälp av gaser som eggen släpper ifrån sig och utveckla den så den går snabbare och fungerar på fler typer av hönsägg.

Main results from the project: The improvements that, based on tests/design work, have been found to be possible to introduce so that both the speed and the safety of sorting is increased for the method, regardless of the hen house the eggs come from will, on which the innovation is based. Because the gender sorting is based on differences between the sexes in the composition of the gases that each egg naturally gives off and this composition varies to some extent with e.g. the feed the hens receive and the environment in the hen house, then there are two preliminary recommendations for end users that even for the final product some small adaptation/adjustment of the product may be needed the hen house where it will possibly be installed and that an initial installation test on a small amount of eggs should be done to ensure product performance in the specific stable before more extensive sorting begins.
Huvudresultat från projektet: Förbättringarna som, baserat på tester/designarbete, har visat sig vara möjliga att införa så att både hastigheten och säkerheten vid sortering ökar för metoden, oavsett hönshuset som äggen kommer från, kommer att baseras på den innovation som presenteras. Eftersom könssorteringen grundar sig på skillnader mellan könen i sammansättningen av de gaser som varje ägg naturligt avger och denna sammansättning varierar något med t.ex. det foder hönsen får och miljön i hönshuset, så finns det två preliminära rekommendationer för slutanvändare att även för den slutliga produkten kan viss liten anpassning/justering av produkten behövas i det hönshus där den eventuellt ska installeras, och att ett inledande installationstest på en liten mängd ägg bör genomföras för att säkerställa produktens prestanda i det specifika stallet innan mer omfattande sortering påbörjas.
