Practice Abstract - Research and innovation

Development of an efficient logging system using the LOGGFORCAT boom harvester

The LOGGFORCAT project has developed an innovative wood-clearing system centered on a 15-meter telescopic arm prototype (LOGGFORCAT RS) equipped with a fastener. This technology streamlines track-side clearance of felled trees, ensuring stacking aligns with forest truck loading requirements. The system enhances forestry yields, reduces environmental impact, and improves safety in forestry operations.

Key actions undertaken include:

-Designing and constructing the LOGGFORCAT RS prototype, featuring a CE-approved collection arm with a clamp.

-Developing and validating a clearing system compatible with the prototype.

-Conducting pilot tests to ensure the system’s financial and environmental efficiency.

- Transferring project results to stakeholders.

The LOGGFORCAT RS prototype represents a significant advance in forestry technology, offering an efficient, safer, and more sustainable clearing solution.
