Objectives
To deploy novel participatory and crowd-sourcing methods to close the gap described by farmers between them and grass breeders.in order to inform an drive innovation in the variety and seed mixes sector. This will address issues of grass and forage productivity where improvements are required in order to maximise livestock productivity without necessarily increasing inputs to sysyems.

Activities
A core group of farmers based in south west Scotland will be formed in order to raise the main requirements for improving grass productivity. This will include a visit to the National List Grass Varirty testing site in order to view the factors that are currently assessed. This will be followed up with an on-line survey of grassland farmers in Scotland in order to measure the grass growth/ physiological attributes considered most desirable for attainment within breeding programmes

Context
A principal aim of the project is to increse the overall productivity and inherent nutritional quality of grass and clover so that animal productivuity can be improved without increasing non- renewable inputs to systems, such as inorganic fertiliser. Ie sustainable intensification.
