Objectives
It concerns a study into a fully self-sufficient dairy farm that can serve as a model for the entire land-based dairy farming in the North of the Netherlands. The core of the new business model will be added value creation and low input.

Het betreft een onderzoek naar een volledig zelfvoorzienend melkveebedrijf, die model kan staan voor de gehele grondgebonden melkveehouderij in Noord NL. De kern van het nieuwe businessmodel zal meerwaardecreatie en low input zijn.
Activities
The project group wants to respond to social issues and thereby also make a major contribution to nature-inclusive circular agriculture. The project is aimed at nutrients that are only obtained from their own land, where these consist only of grass and hay and where the other mineral input is kept to a minimum. Fermented products such as silage and concentrates are virtually excluded. The expectation is that the milk produced in this process is richer in nutrients than regular milk.
Activities
De projectgroep wil inspelen op de maatschappelijke vraagstukken en daarbij ook een grote bijdrage leveren aan de natuur inclusieve kringloop landbouw. Het project is gericht op voedingstoffen die enkel van eigen land worden gewonnen, waarbij deze enkel uit gras en hooi bestaan en waarbij de overige input aan mineralen tot een minimum wordt beperkt. Gefermenteerde producten als kuil en krachtvoer zijn nagenoeg uitgesloten. De verwachting hierbij is dat de melk die hierbij geproduceerd is, rijker is aan voedingstoffen dan de reguliere melk.
Context
De Nederlandse zuivel loopt tegen zijn grenzen aan. Een aantal jaren terug is het fosfaatplafond bereikt (met alle gevolgen van dien). Daarnaast verwacht het CBS dat het stikstofplafond in 2018 ook overschreden wordt. Daarnaast spelen er vele maatschappelijke vraagstukken als weidegang, bodemdaling in het veenweide gebied, kunstmestgebruik, gewasbeschermingsmiddelen, dierenwelzijn, diergezondheid en de centrale vraag: waar komt ons voedsel vandaan?
