Objectives
The EIP projekt MAJA aims to develop a novel dosing device for formic acid in beehives. The targeted application of the acid leads to effective control of infestation by Varroa mites. As a result of the MAJA project, a sensor-guided and controllable evaporation device was implemented to enable precise and need-based regulation and ventilation in beehives to tread different concentrations of formic acid depending on the mite infestation in the beehive.
Objectives
Das EIP-Projekt MAJA zielt auf die Entwicklung einer neuartigen Dosierungsvorrichtung für Ameisensäure in Bienenstöcken. Die gezielte Anwendung der Säure führt zur wirkungsvollen Bekämpfung des Befalls durch Varoamilben. Im Ergebnis des Projektes MAJA wurde eine sensorisch geführte und steuerbare Verdunstungsvorrichtung realisiert, um in Bienenstöcken eine präzise und bedarfsgerechte Regelung und Ventilation zur Behandlung unterschiedlicher Konzentrationen von Ameissensäure je nach Milbenbefall im Bienenstock zu ermöglichen.
Activities
For this purpose, the novel device was tested and modeled on numerous bee clonies as part of prototype tests and a comparative test in order to adequately demonstrate how it works. The new MAJA solution reaches the vaccination of every bee in the hive. The mites are killed and the bees are strengthenened for the spring.

Die neuartige Vorrichtung wurde dazu im Rahmen von Prototypentests sowie eines Vergleichstests an zahlreichen Bienenvölkern getestet und modellhaft erprobt, um die Funktionsweise hinreichend nachzuweisen. Die neue MAJA-Lösung erreicht durch die Impfung jede Biene im Bienenstock Die Milben werden getötet und die Bienen damit für das Frühjahr gestärkt.
