Objectives
The general objective of the project is to test the feasibility, in terms of economic sustainability, of the FederBio “High Welfare” standard to beef cattle and egg poultry farms, which are kind of farms relevant for the regional organic sector.
The specific objectives are:
- to protect the environment,
- to increase and preserve animal welfare,
- to improve the quality and safety of production,
- to increase the integration of farms within the agri-food value chain.

L'obiettivo generale del progetto è quello di testare l’applicabilità, in ottica di sostenibilità economica, dello standard “High Welfare” di FederBio per allevamenti bovini da carne e avicoli da uova, che rappresentano tipologie rilevanti per il settore biologico regionale.
Gli obiettivi specifici sono:
- tutelare l’ambiente,
- aumentare e salvaguardare il benessere degli animali,
- migliorare la qualità e la sicurezza delle produzioni,
- aumentare l’integrazione delle aziende agricole all’interno della catena del valore agroalimentare.

1 Practice Abstracts
The main expected result is the creation of zootechnical products (poultry meat, eggs and beef) with a low environmental and social impact, obtained through the use and the testing of production quality standards, innovative and environmentally friendly, in order to protect the biodiversity and to preserve the natural resources.
Further expected results are:
- definition and application of rigorous criteria and high production standards in the field of animal and social welfare (High Welfare FederBio);
- development of innovative and sustainable processes for the farm management and the use of feed;
- research and experimentation of an innovative system for monitoring and restoring the environmental and social impacts of the developped production method;
- development and adoption of complex technological innovations (FIP4Beef and FIP4Poultry platform) in the management of the value chain, such as organizational and service supports for the organic supply chains of poultry meat and egg and for that of bovine meet;
- definition of new methods for the traceability of products from the acquisition of the raw material (feed), to the production and marketing.
Il principale risultato atteso è la realizzazione di prodotti zootecnici (carni avicole, uova e carne bovina) a basso impatto ambientale e sociale ottenuti attraverso l’impiego e la sperimentazione di innovativi standard produttivi di qualità rispettosi dell’ambiente, a tutela della biodiversità e della salvaguardia delle risorse naturali.
Di seguito gli ulteriori risultati attesi:
- definizione e applicazione di criteri rigorosi ed elevati standard produttivi in materia di benessere animale e sociale (High Welfare FederBio);
- messa a punto di processi innovativi e sostenibili per la gestione degli allevamenti ed utilizzo dei mangimi;
- ricerca e sperimentazione di un sistema innovativo per il monitoraggio e la restituzione degli impatti ambientali e sociali del metodo di produzione messo a punto;
- sviluppo e adozione di innovazioni tecnologiche complesse (piattaforma FIP4Beef e FIP4Poultry) nella gestione della catena del valore quali supporti organizzativi e di servizi nell’ambito delle filiere biologiche avicola da carne e da uova e in quella della carne bovina;
- definizione di nuove modalità per la tracciabilità dei prodotti dall'acquisizione della materia prima (mangimi), alla produzione fino alla commercializzazione.
