Kontext

Objectives

The main objective of this project is to achieve the maximum production in olive cultivation, with the lowest costs and ensuring both high efficiency in the use of natural resources and reduction of  the environmental impact. With the activities planned and the developments to be achieved through the implementation of this innovative project, the Operational Group will be able to improve water and soil management, making more efficient and rational use of water and inputs, and to achieve the optimisation in the use of energy and resources in olive growing for oil production, ensuring the final quality of the product so as to obtain 100% of the Premium category extra virgin olive oil .

1 Practice Abstracts

The main objective of this project is to achieve the maximum production in olive cultivation, with the lowest costs and ensuring both high efficiency in the use of natural resources and reduction of  the environmental impact. With the activities planned and the developments to be achieved through the implementation of this innovative project, the Operational Group will be able to improve water and soil management, making more efficient and rational use of water and inputs, and to achieve the optimisation in the use of energy and resources in olive growing for oil production, ensuring the final quality of the product so as to obtain 100% of the Premium category extra virgin olive oil .

THE MAIN RESULTS EXPECTED:

- The use of a database fed by manual techniques (hours of work, machinery used, costs, ..) and by the information provided by the wireless sensor network (climatic data, GPS, soil moisture, leaf color, ..), will allow to obtain a greater and precise information that will facilitate the decision making process.

- The possibility of accessing the exploitation database from any location will result in greater accessibility, efficiency and traceability, and will favor the exchange of information and cooperation between olive sector agents.

- From the environmental point of view, agronomic techniques leading to a more rational use of agricultural inputs and resources will be implemented, by means of more accurate dose of water and fertilizers.

- From the economic point of view, the potential savings in inputs, due to a precise application and the better development of the crop, will lead to a reduction of operating costs.
