Identifying new hazelnut varieties that have a high degree of adaptability to weather factors and a potential for use in food supplements.To achieve the goal the following steps will be taken: the selection of valuable hazelnut varieties that are climate change adapted and that produce fruit with high a nutritional value that can be used in the production of food supplements.
Multiplying valuable hazelnut selections. Increasing the profitability of production farms, that belong to the partners who are part of the operational group, by using the precision techniques for the fruit growing process
End user benefits: diversifying farm activity by producing a food supplement made with hazelnuts from the selected varieties
Development of farmers' professional and managerial skills as well as their ability to use the scientific research results and apply them on their respective farms 
Creating an organized framework for all OG partners to identify areas of mutual interest,
Creating a resource database that will be useful in precision fruit growing farm management: access to research results, including for HNV areas
increasing the profitability of the economic activity of the partners involved in OG by offering hazelnut planting material with higher added value
creating innovative management plans for experimental field’s yield that will enable OG partners to protect the environment and to increase the economic efficiency

Project activity report - November 12, 2021

1. Two activity communication groups were created on WhatsApp, one for Project Leader Avram Daniel, Project Director Bunea Claudiu and USAMV-SCH Project Manager Eugenia Hărșan and another for partner 1 which includes Project Leader Avram Daniel, project director Bunea Claudiu, USAMV-SCH project manager Eugenia Hărșan and specialists Lehel Lukacs, Roman Gabriela and Peter Somsai.
2. Weekly working meetings of the group of specialists within USAMV-SCH Cluj Napoca were held
3. Field trips were carried out, in forest areas with a large number of hazelnuts, HNV areas, to identify useful plants for the study provided for in the project. GPS positions were taken and pictures were taken of branches with leaves and their nuts, for descriptions.
4. The type of diseases and pests present on the samples taken were evaluated.
5. Dr. Eugenia Hărșan completed and checked together with Prof. Bunea Claudiu, the project research contracts for the members of partner 1.
6. The procurement file consisting of the procurement plan and the necessary reports for each laboratory was drawn up according to the budget approved by AFIR.
7. The time sheet for the month of September was drawn up in accordance with the activity submitted by the members of partner 1.
8. The link between Partner 1, USAMV-SCH Cluj-Napoca and the Project Leader was permanently maintained for the timely implementation of each activity provided for in the project.

10. Large areas of hazelnuts with no or very few fruits were identified. The year 2021 was not conducive to the fruiting of the hazelnut - during the flowering period there was an accentuated drought.

The purchases were made and paid. The salary payment that was held, by USAMV Cluj for receiving the corresponding value, from AFIR. Four hazelnut varieties were selected. More than 20 varieties of hazelnut from the spontaneous flora are followed, identified by GPS.Initiation of in vitro cultures for selected hazelnut varieties, in vitro multiplication of selected varieties, Initiation of in vitro cultures for hazelnut varieties Barcelona, Tonda Gentile delle Langhe and Tonda di Giffoni. The choice of the nucleic acid extraction protocol and the optimization of the chosen protocol for carrying out the genetic analyzes were carried out. Shoots were separated from plants selected from the spontaneous flora and planted, along with Tonda Gentile delle Langhe and Tonda Gentile Romana varieties, according to the project plan. The experimental hazelnut plant was maintained. The germinative capacity of the hazelnut was determined in a selection. The protocol for obtaining a formula for the use of hazelnut products in animal nutrition was determined. The degree of attack with the hazel weevil, Balaninus nucum H., was monitored, a pest that had a high degree of attack during 2022. Phenological observations were made and hazelnut selections were described pomologically. The protocol for the biochemical analysis of hazelnuts was established. The specialized documentation was done. The communication and mutual support between the partners and the Project Leader was permanently maintained .The project leader purchased the tractor and the weather station for precision agriculture.
