Kontext
In this operational group, the baseline situation is represented by the participating farm, UPB GENETIC WORLD, SL, dedicated to the pig sector. The installation of a pilot plant with a solidliquid separator, an ammonium vacuum evaporation system (AMMONEVA® system) followed by an ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis system (BEDA® system) enables the treatment of livestock manure. The aim of this pilot plant is to achieve the reduction of the ammonium content of the manure and its recovery in the form of a solution that can be marketed as a fertiliser (ammonium sulphate), a sanitised solid fraction, a concentrate (treated slurry), and clean water.
The aim of this project is to optimise the operation of the AMMONEVA® - BEDA® system so that it can be implemented on intensive pig farms and other types of livestock farms. The necessary knowledge will be obtained to improve the design, construction and/or implementation of the system on new farms. Furthermore, in order to be able to use the different by-products obtained in this innovative process as fertiliser, they will be carefully characterised and their fertilising value in extensive crops and market gardens will be assessed. The atmospheric emissions of ammonia and greenhouse gases (GHG) during the treatment process and in its use as a fertiliser on commercial plots will also be assessed.
Objectives
• Optimise the treatment process consisting of vacuum evaporation, ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis to increase the efficiency of ammonia removal from slurry, reduce GHG
and ammonia emissions and reduce the energy consumption of the system.
• Characterise the different by-products obtained in the treatment process.
• Adapt the use of the effluent obtained as fertiliser in different types of crops (extensive and market gardens) and at different levels: crop yields, soil nutrient content and
atmospheric emissions.
Objectives
Activities
• Activity 1 - Optimise the slurry treatment process consisting of vacuum evaporation followed by an ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis system (AMMONEVA® - BEDA® system).
• Activity 2 - Improve the efficiency of the agricultural use of the liquid fraction of treated slurry in extensive rain-fed crops.
• Activity 3 - Formulation of organic fertilisers based on the ammonium sulphate obtained in the process.
• Activity 4 - Fertilisation tests in market gardens with ammonia water (ammonium sulphate) and sanitised solid effluent.
Activities
