Development of a labeling system for wood logs in the wood supply chain Forests-Industry
Desarrollo de un sistema de etiquetado para troncos de madera en la cadena de suministro de la madera Monte-Industria.
Objectives
The Forest-Industry wood supply chain is currently highly inefficient in terms of cost and sustainability, being therefore necessary to have a system that allows trunk to trunk control to achieve greater efficiency, and can also extract valuable information related to the quality of the product. Therefore the object of the idea is to develop and implement a technically and economically viable solution for the labeling of logs and lots of wood in the wood supply chain in Spain, seeking to achieve the highest degree of integration with the exploitation machinery used. currently, and that is easily integrated with traceability software systems.
Objectives
La cadena de suministro de la madera Monte-Industria es actualmente altamente ineficiente en términos de coste y sostenibilidad. Es necesario disponer de un sistema que permita controlar tronco a tronco para lograr una mayor eficiencia, pudiendo así mismo extraer valiosa información relacionada con la calidad del producto. Por tanto el objeto de la idea es desarrollar e implementar una solución viable técnica y económicamente para el etiquetado de troncos y lotes de madera en la cadena de suministro de la madera en España, buscando alcanzar el mayor grado de integración con la maquinaria de explotación empleada actualmente, y que se integre fácilmente con los sistemas
Activities
Activity 1- Identification and analysis of the state of the art of labeling / logging technologies.
Activity 2- Identification and analysis of the processes of the wood supply chain, as well as the machinery used.
Activity 3- Design of a label and auxiliary hardware elements of marking easily integrable in the current machinery
Activity 4- Development of pilot tests in real scenarios of the supply chain
Activity 5- Development of a technology implementation plan in the supply chains of Spain.
Activities
Actividad 1- Identificación y análisis del estado del arte de las tecnologías de etiquetado/marcado de troncos.
Actividad 2- Identificación y análisis de los procesos de la cadena de suministro de madera, así como la maquinaria empleada.
Actividad 3- Diseño de una etiqueta y elementos hardware auxiliares de marcado fácilmente integrables en la maquinaria actual
Actividad 4- Desarrollo de pruebas piloto en escenarios reales de la cadena de suministro
Actividad 5- Desarrollo de un plan de implementación de la tecnología en las cadenas de suministro de España.
Context
This Project comes at a time when the EU and the global market seek to find ways that allow a more efficient use of natural resources, especially renewable resources. Wood and biomass are resources that pose great difficulties when it comes to value, because of their characteristics and the large number of actors involved in the process. In addition, the EU and the government of Spain have come during the last years making important commitments and actions that allow a better use and development of forest resources and the corresponding industry (foretal strategies of the EU and Spain, Plans, PDR ..) . Likewise, in parallel, important advances have taken place in recent years in a whole set of disruptive technologies such as the Internet of Things and within IT that can introduce very important changes in all economic sectors, helping to improve efficiency of its operation, security or transparency, among others. On the other hand, the reduction of costs in the most viable technology currently for marking logs such as RFID (radiofrequency) that has taken place in the last five years has led us to consider the feasibility of carrying out this project.

En este grupo participan por una parte agentes destacados del sector forestal (Finsa, Maderas Siero, Cetemas, Cluster de la Madera de Galicia), así como empresas especializadas en tecnología RFID y centros tecnológicos de innovación. Todo ello conforma un equipo muy destacado y acreditado para el logro de los objetivos propuestos.
In this group, prominent agents from the forestry sector participate (Finsa, Maderas Siero, Cetemas, Galician Wood Cluster), as well as companies specialized in RFID technology and technology innovation centers. All this forms a very outstanding and accredited team for the achievement of the proposed objectives.
