Context

Das Bundes-Klimaschutzgesetz sieht vor, die Treibhausgasemissionen im Vergleich zum Jahr 1990 um mindestens 65 Prozent bis zum Zieljahr 2030 zu mindern. Seitens der Winzer besteht ein hoher Bedarf an der Bewertung betrieblicher Wertschöpfungsketten im Hinblick auf ihre Klimawirksamkeit besteht.

Objectives

The aim of the project is, that the calculator will thus contribute to cover the need for reliable and comparable carbon information in viticulture. An additional carbon compass shows companies how to reduce greenhouse gases efficiently in viticulture processes.

Activities

Data collection and evaluation of the Corporate Carbon Footprint constitutes a methodological challenge for the companies. Practicable Instruments that allow evaluation and quantification of company's behaviour on the basis of standardized principles are missing. The project will develop a carbon calculator, which allows evaluating the climate impact of value chains in viticulture. This includes the reduction potential of CO2 and the potential of carbon removals.
