Animal welfare in poultry and pig production systems

The ongoing Horizon 2020 project PPILOW looks specifically at solutions to improve the welfare of poultry and pigs reared in organic and low-input outdoor production systems. A multi-criteria assessment of welfare-improving practices has been implemented in order to have an exhaustive view of the overall impacts of these practices beyond the gains for animal and human welfare.
