CAP Network Ireland is the National Network dedicated to supporting sustainable agriculture and rural development in Ireland. Our role is to promote networking, innovation and funding opportunities under Ireland’s CAP Strategic Plan.

Objectives

Our goal is to increase the involvement of all stakeholders in implementing Ireland’s CAP Strategic Plan (CSP). We cover four main areas:

  • Research: We collect, analyse and share examples of activities carried out under the CSP.
  • Communications and Networking: We promote opportunities, facilitate peer learning, knowledge exchange and stakeholder engagement.
  • Management and Implementation: We assist the Department of Agriculture, Food & Marine (DAFM) with monitoring, reporting and evaluation of the CSP.
  • We run an innovation hub to facilitate knowledge exchange, share opportunities for collaboration and bring innovations closer to on-the-ground application.

Our members include farmers, advisors, researchers, rural communities, agencies and others interested stakeholders.

Governance

CAP Network Ireland is an independent consortium contracted on behalf of DAFM to support implementation of Ireland’s CAP Strategic Plan.

CAP Network Ireland is a partnership between three organisations:

Irish Rural Link (IRL) is the coordinator of the team. IRL is a non-profit, rural Irish advocacy cooperative national network of organisations and individuals campaigning for sustainable rural development in Ireland and Europe. IRL was the lead partner in implementing the previous Rural Development Programme (2014-2020) in Ireland under the National Rural Network.

ERINN Innovation is an Irish SME that specialises in bridging the gap from science to policy, industry and society. The ERINN team are experts in the EU funding landscape and knowledge transfer to ensure that research has an impact.

Munster Technological University is a multi-campus technological university with expertise in agricultural and rural development.
