The third CODECS science-policy interface meeting will bring together policymakers, researchers, EU project representatives, and stakeholders from across the agricultural and digital innovation sectors to discuss how Europe can accelerate the sustainable digital transformation of agriculture.

Digitalisation is a central objective of the EU Green Deal, the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), and wider European digital strategies. Technologies such as precision farming, AI-supported crop management, datadriven decision tools, and smart sensing systems are often presented as key enablers of more sustainable and efficient farming systems. However, despite years of research and policy attention, adoption remains uneven across Member States and farming sectors. Persistent barriers include limited policy coordination, unclear governance frameworks, legal and administrative constraints, and difficulties in translating research outcomes into practical and scalable solutions.

The event will focus on the policy recommendations and tools developed within the CODECS project to support evidence-based policymaking for agricultural digitalisation. Participants will discuss how these recommendations can be validated, improved, and aligned with current EU policy developments, including the ongoing revision of the CAP and discussions around future rural and digital strategies.

The meeting will also create space for dialogue between CODECS and related EU projects working on digital agriculture and innovation governance. Comparing approaches and findings will help identify policy synergies, avoid duplication, highlight remaining gaps, and strengthen collaboration between research initiatives and policymakers.

Through interactive discussions and exchange of perspectives, the event aims to support the development of practical, policy-ready solutions that can contribute to a more sustainable, inclusive, and scalable digital transition for European agriculture.
