Support for farmers and rural stakeholders under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) in Portugal is managed in the 2023-2027 period nationally through their CAP Strategic Plan (CSP), funded under the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF) and national contributions.
The CAP 2023-2027 follows a performance and results-based approach built around ten objectives, which frame the EU countries’ CAP Strategic Plans. These combine targeted interventions addressing specific needs and delivering on EU-level objectives.

As a platform for disseminating and sharing information, experience and knowledge, the RRN presupposes action that develops sharing and cooperation around the actions to be carried out with the aim of improving the application of rural development policy programmes and measures and the qualification of the intervention of the agents involved in rural development.
The RRN is the entity responsible for disseminating the results of the Operational Groups and is the major mobiliser of stakeholders in the activities carried out, particularly those geared towards innovation and knowledge transfer.
