Our project aims to support the development of SYAM in the territories in order to identify the conditions of their durability. It pursues three major operational objectives: The first is to highlight the elements that ensure the durability and the development of various companies (from the farm to the final marketers) belonging to the SYAM, their diversity and their local professional « know-how ». It also aims to highlight the elements of sustainable development for these companies: the triple ecological, economic and social performances, particularly expressed in terms of equity between different stakeholders in the food system. The second objective is to produce tools and methods to support the development of these food systems towards sustainable forms, inserted in the territories. Then, we are engaged in a phase of experimentation and tests of these tools. This work will be done in close collaboration with stakeholders, and will allow the construction of a shared vision of the sustainability of SYAM and will insure their promotion in the field. The third objective is a contribution to regional development: the challenge here is, through the momentum that will be created, in the SYAM project, to contribute to increase skills of SYAM stakeholders, to create a place for reflection and exchanging experiences around the issues of a stronger territorialisation of the agricultural and food economy. From the point of view of action, the SYAM project aims to analyze how these food systems constitute a new development path. Does this path allow, and if so under which conditions, to combine various advantages, those given to the short supply chains, because of the proximity between producers and consumers, and those from to the long supply chains
