The project will be implemented on the property of the city of Mohelnice, LHC 712403, which is managed by Lesy města Mohelnice, s.r.o. The area of PUPFL is 674.86 ha. Forest property was affected by calamity in 2019-2021, from 2022 is the situation stabilized. Managers want to innovate an approach to support biodiversity on forest property by permanently leaving trees in all suitable stands. The goal of the project is the long-term and systematic strengthening of the biodiversity of the forest property by leaving the trees until their physical decay. The aim of the innovative measure is to mark trees for permanent retention in all stands older than 70 years. A methodology for the selection, marking, measurement, description and categorization of trees to be permanently left in stands will be created and will be followed according to this methodology. Presentation layers will be created in GIS and the economic evaluation of this project for the management of the company.

The innovation represents leaving a part of the forest without intervention, without disrupting the economic function of the forest and to support the increase of biodiversity and stability as well as production functions. In the future, measuring the remaining trees will help evaluate measures in terms of the degree of support for the occurrence of microhabitats and biodiversity, as well as the growth development of these trees, including the quantification of the degree of carbon sequestration.
