Objectives

-Collection of Bobal, Airén and minority biotypes from Castilla-La Mancha: collect, multiply and plant a field of Bobal, Airén and minority vineyard biotypes to preserve the genetic variability present in old vineyards
-Clonal selection Bobal, Airén and other minority varieties: evaluation of preselected biotypes and homologation of certified clones from Castilla-La Mancha

Objectives

Activities

Selection of autochthonous biotypes of Castilian-La Mancha vine varieties in order to obtain new certified clones for the two varieties already authorized in Castilla-La Mancha such as Airén and Bobal, as well as for some minority varieties. In addition, it is intended to create a plantation of two banks of two biotype banks to preserve the genetic variability of the old vineyard of Bobal, Airén and minority varieties.

Activities

1 Practice Abstracts

The Biovidman Operational Group (GO) works on the selection of native biotopes of Castilian-Manchegan vine varieties. Thus, this pilot innovation project aims to obtain new certified clones for the two native varieties already authorized in this region (Airén and Bobal) and for some other minority ones, with the ultimate goal of preserving genetic variability in the vineyards and achieving homologation of these clones that makes their commercialization possible. Biovidman proposes a solution based on adaptation and mitigation measures for viticulture in the face of agroclimatic changes, through the selection and conservation of plant materials from the original Castilian-La Mancha varieties. It is possible that the solutions to the problems of viticulture of the future will be found in the viticultural varieties of the past
