Activities
The aim of a question and answer campaign is to provide information on the keeping and use of Schleswig coldblood horses. In addition, the SNP genotyping (reading of single nucleotide polymorphism markers in the laboratory, "genetic fingerprint") of as many breed representatives as possible creates the data basis for the development of optimized mating recommendations. The aim is to provide targeted support to minimise inbreeding and preserve the genetic diversity of Schleswig's cold blood. At the same time, the documentation and preservation of the essential breed characteristics is significantly promoted by the introduction of the linear description. They make characteristic, value-free data on individual horses available and can be made available to breeders for their own horses.
Activities
Durch eine Fragebogeaktion sollen Aufschlüsse über die Haltung und Nutzung von Schleswiger Kaltblutpferden gegeben werden. Zusätzlich schafft die SNP-Genotypisierung (Auslesen von Single Nucleotide Polymorphism-Markern im Labor, "genetischer Fingerabdruck") von möglichst vielen Rassevertretern die Datengrundlage für die Entwicklung optimierter Anpaarungsempfehlungen. So soll gezielt unterstützt werden, Inzucht zu minimieren und die genetische Vielfalt des Schleswiger Kaltblutes zu bewahren. Gleichzeitig wird die Dokumentation und Erhaltung der wesentlichen Rasseeigenschaften durch die Einführung der linearen Beschreibung maßgeblich gefördert. Durch sie werden charakteristische, wertfreie Daten zu Einzelpferden verfügbar und können Züchterinnen und Züchtern für eigene Pferde zur Verfügung gestellt werden.

The project is expected to deliver the following results: strengthening the data basis for the Schleswig cold blood, genetic characterization of the population of the Schleswig cold blood, introduction of a linear description for value-free characterization of breeding animals and their offspring, support for breeders of Schleswig cold blood horses through a mating program, preservation of genetic material in the form of semen and embryos in order to ensure long-term availability
Folgende Ergebnisse werden durch das Projekt erwartet: die Stärkung der Datengrundlage zum Schleswiger Kaltblut, genetische Charakterisierung der Population des Schleswiger Kaltbluts, Einführung einer linearen Beschreibung zur wertfreien Charakterisierung von Zuchttieren und deren Nachkommen, Unterstützung der ZüchterInnen von Schleswiger Kaltblutpferden durch ein Anpaarungsprogramm, Konservierung von genetischem Material in Form von Sperma und Embryonen, um die langfristige Verfügbarkeit zu sichern
