Objectives

The Reine Mathilde project was created in 2010 in order to develop organic farming, sustain conversions and the dairy industry in Normandy. The 1st phase of the project consisted of working on food self-sufficiency, then the 2nd and 3rd phases focused on soil health and fertility. The two new areas that will be worked on from 2022 are adaptation to climate change and the universal basic needs of pastoralists.
Multiple fears related to climate change are emerging: grass growth, state of stocks, prices of external feed, uncertainty of yields, heat stress on animals ...

Objectives

Le projet Reine Mathilde a été créé en 2010 afin de développer l’agriculture biologique, pérenniser les conversions et la filière laitière en Normandie. La 1ère phase du projet consistait à travailler sur l’autonomie alimentaire, puis la 2ème et la 3ème phase étaient axées sur la santé et la fertilité des sols. Les deux nouveaux axes qui seront travaillés à partir de 2022 sont l’adaptation au changement climatique et les besoins fondamentaux universels des éleveurs.
De multiples craintes liées au changement climatique émergent : pousse de l’herbe, état des stocks, prix des aliments extérieurs, incertitude des rendements, stress thermique des animaux…

1 Practice Abstracts

The objective is therefore to create technical references to respond to the challenges of climate change, to be inspired by innovative, resilient and virtuous practices within the community of Norman dairy farmers.

More specifically in the former Haute-Normandie
• Encourage and develop organic conversions
• Remove the specific obstacles in the area (lower organic density, high proportion of cash crops, etc.)

In former Lower Normandy
• Continue to develop organic conversions
• Test innovative themes to acquire references on an even more resilient organic
Action plan oriented around 3 main axes:
- Technical tests in 2 showcase farms in Calvados: setting up of a summer stealing platform in association and experimentation on meadows in a context of climatic hazards. In Seine Maritime: breeding / grazing on aging meadows, destruction of temporary meadows and biodiversity monitoring.
- Demonstration of innovative practices on satellite farms: 6 ends of fields to promote exchanges between peers.
- Secure conversions and support the organic farming of tomorrow: stimulate and perpetuate the organic farming of tomorrow through support, intervention with schoolchildren, work on the social impact (human and animal welfare) and communication

L’objectif est donc de créer des références techniques pour répondre aux enjeux du changement climatique, s’inspirer des pratiques innovantes, résilientes et vertueuses au sein de la communauté d’éleveurs laitiers normands.

Plus spécifiquement en ex Haute-Normandie
•Encourager et développer les conversions à la bio
•Lever les freins spécifiques de la zone (moindre densité bio, forte proportion de cultures de vente…)

En ex Basse-Normandie
•Continuer à développer les conversions à la bio
•Tester des thématiques innovantes pour acquérir des références sur une bio encore plus résiliente
Plan d’actions orienté autour de 3 grands axes :
-    Essais techniques dans 2 fermes vitrines dans le Calvados : mise en place d’une plateforme de dérobées estivales en association et expérimentation sur prairie dans un contexte d’aléas climatiques. En Seine Maritime : élevage / pâturage sur le vieillissement des prairies, la destruction des prairies temporaires et le suivi biodiversité.
-    Démonstration de pratiques innovantes sur des fermes satellites : 6 bouts de champs pour favoriser les échanges entre pairs.
-    Sécuriser les conversions et accompagner la bio de demain : stimuler et pérenniser l’élevage bio de demain par l’accompagnement, l’intervention auprès de scolaires, un travail sur l’impact social (bien-être humain et bien-être animal) et la communicatio
