Objectives
To develop innovative, profitable and resource-efficient
vegetal protein-rich food sources from grain leguminous crops
by using optimized and sustainable production and processing
methods.
Objectives
Desarrollar fuentes de alimentos ricos en proteínas vegetales
innovadoras, rentables y eficientes en el uso de recursos, a
partir de cultivos de leguminosas de grano, mediante la
utilización de métodos de producción y procesamiento
optimizados y sostenibles.
Activities
1. Identification of the adaptability and productivity of
different legumumious crops and varieties in climatic regions
of Spain through phenotyping and improvement for human
and animal nutrition.
2. Improvement of the productivity of selected new
leguminous varieties on less productive agricultural lands
using sustainable improvement approaches and in
cooperation with seed companies and farmers.
3. Improvement of the quality and design of new formulations
of protein-rich products for human and animal nutrition.
4. Development and validation of the new protein-rich
products as competitive alternatives to protein sources of
animal origin and soy protein.
Activities
1. Identificación de la adaptabilidad y productividad de
diferentes cultivos de leguminosas y variedades en regions
climáticas de España mediante el fenotipado y la mejora para
la alimentación humana y animal.
2. Mejora de la productividad de las nuevas variedades de
leguminosas seleccionadas en tierras agrícolas menos
productivas utilizando enfoques de mejora sostenibles y en
cooperación con empresas de semillas y agricultores.
3. Mejora de calidad y diseño de nuevas formulaciones de
productos ricos en proteínas para alimentación humana y
animal.
4. Desarrollo y validación de nuevos productos ricos en
proteinas, como alternativas competitivas a fuentes de
proteína de origen animal y de soja.
