Cooperation exercise. Action involving the coordination and technical-economic monitoring of the project.

Studies to implement the plan. This action wants to know the opinion of international experts on possible innovative and sustainable PCCC solutions, the motivations that prompted farmers (called pioneers) to use solutions with prolonged cow-calf contact and the opinion of stakeholders on early and late calf separation from the mother.

Action 1 – Field trials in pilot farms. This action foresees the feasibility of the main solutions with prolonged cow-calf contact that can be adopted in the different types of farming.

Field trials are carried out in the 7 pilot farms, partners in the project. Each farm presents a different organisation of calving, both from the point of view of housing systems, and from the point of view of management.

Action 2 – Ethical/social and economic sustainability of PCCC solutions. This action aims to verify:

- the safety level of workers in contact with mothers and calves in the different solutions with prolonged cow-calf contact compared to the solution with short contact;

- economic feasibility through cost-benefit analysis of different solutions with prolonged cow-calf contact compared with short contact solution.

Action 3 – DSS_CONTACT. This action entails the development of a decision support system concerning the possible technical-economic farm choices in relation to the late separation of the calf from its mother with cost-benefit analysis.

Dissemination Action (creating information material specifically for CONTACT and disseminate the information material created within CONTACT, not only via the web platform, but also through events and social channels).
