Objectives
The general objective of the Plan is to increase the profitability and the competitiveness of farms through the creation and the development of an innovative and sustainable supply chain: the hop-growing.
Specific objectives:
1. To improve the quality of the hop cultures.
2. To select new Italian hop varieties.
3. To improve the sustainability of farming and the processing techniques.
4. To connect the several players of the hop supply chain.
5. To implement innovation and traceability (notarize) of the processes of production, harvesting and post-harvesting.
6. To promote the profitability and the valorization of the hop farms.
Objectives
L’obiettivo generale del Piano è migliorare la redditività e la competitività delle aziende agricole attraverso la creazione e lo sviluppo di una filiera agricola innovativa e sostenibile: la luppolicoltura.
Obiettivi specifici:
1. Migliorare la qualità del “luppolo”.
2. Ricercare nuove varietà nazionali di luppolo.
3. Migliorare la sostenibilità ambientale e sociale delle tecniche di coltivazione e di lavorazione.
4. Integrare gli operatori della filiera del Luppolo.
5. Innovazione e tracciabilità (notarizzazione) dei processi di lavorazione, raccolta e post raccolta.
6. Migliorare la redditività e la valorizzazione delle aziende agricole.

1 Practice Abstracts
The plan will allow obtaining the following results:
- innovation in cultivation techniques, in terms of planting spacing and height of the support structures, as well as the characterization of the different cultivars in relation to the vegetative-productive aspects;
- qualitative characterization of the product (cones), also in comparison with commercial product, in order to evaluate the effect of the terroir and, specifically, the characteristics that the Emilia-Romagna soil gives to hops;
- identification and evaluation of the ripening index of the hop cone;
-definition of a high quality hops in the Emilia-Romagna environment through the implementation of plant nutrition tests;
-an improvement of regional biodiversity and genetic improvement (which the GO will continue after the two years of the project until the creation of a “varietal prototype”) through the assessment of regional biodiversity;
-implementation of a new methods for a phytosanitary certification;
- definition of new innovative and sustainable processes for drying;
- setting-up of the system traceability called "blockchain" will provide to the new users an innovative and powerful tool for monitoring the hops supply chain.
Il Piano permetterà di ottenere i seguenti risultati:
-innovazione nelle tecniche di coltivazione, in termini di sesti di impianto e di altezza delle strutture di sostegno, nonché la caratterizzazione delle diverse cultivar in relazione agli aspetti vegeto-produttivi
-caratterizzazione qualitativa del prodotto ottenuto (coni), anche in confronto con i prodotti commerciali, in modo da valutare l’effetto del terroir e, nello specifico, le caratteristiche che il suolo emiliano-romagnolo conferisce al luppolo;
-individuazione e valutazione degli indici di maturazione del cono di luppolo;
-definizione di un luppolo di alta qualità in ambiente emiliano romagnolo attraverso la realizzazione di test di fertilizzazione;
-miglioramento della biodiversità regionale e miglioramento genetico (che il GOI continuerà anche allo scadere dei due anni di progetto fino alla creazione di un “prototipo varietale”) attraverso la valutazione della biodiversità regionale;
-implementazione di nuove modalità di certificazione genetico sanitaria;
definizione di nuovi processi innovativi e sostenibili per l'essiccazione;
-messa a punto di supporti organizzativi e gestionali per realizzare una filiera completamente digitalizzata (blockchain system).
