Context

The project request arises from the need to respond to the 
demands of the affected municipalities to face the 
depopulation process and the abandonment of forests and 
farmlands. On the other hand, the demand for pork meat 
from the Celtic trunk (Porco Celta, Gochu Asturcelta) is on 
the rise, and to cope with it, it is necessary to ease the 
technological development of the sector, by increasing 
production, homogenization of products, improvement of 
herd management and reduction of costs and work.
Several of the members have participated in a national 
project evaluating the effect of grazing with native breeds of 
pigs of the Celtic trunk in Ibero-Atlantic deciduous forest, 
which results are expected to be corroborated in this project.
The development of this mobile, autonomous and digitized 
system from the tested prototype, has been another of the 
project's incentives to evaluate the improvement of 
production practices.
Finally, the creation by the Xunta de Galicia of the Model 
Villages Plan has been taken into account, where these 
farms could be included, with the proposed feeding system, 
as well as the support of the Xunta de Galicia and the 
Government. of the Principality of Asturias, in line with the 
trends of Spain Circular 2030 for R & D & i initiatives that 
they support rural development, increase profitability and 
improve the sustainability of livestock farms.

Celta en extensivo en bosques caducifolios atlánticos 
empleando o no el sistema automatizado.
 Desarrollo de sistemas muy atractivos para las 
generaciones más jóvenes que se puedan mantener o 
incorporar en el trabajo agrario
