Objectives

Project Objectives:

1) Develop a scientific and professional basis for sustainable use of digestate from biogas plants as fertilizer and soil improver;

2) Determine the impact of digestate on the physical and chemical properties of soil

3) Assess the impact of digestate on nutrient dynamics in the soil and nutrient availability to plants.

4) Evaluate the impact of digestate on yield and quality of agricultural crops;

5)Identify possible negative impact of digestate on soil and cultivated crops

6) Determine the economic viability of using digestate

7)Enhance farmers' knowledge about sustainable use of digestate.

Objectives

Ciljevi projekta su:

1) izraditi znanstvenu i stručnu osnovu za održivu uporabu digestata iz bioplinskih postrojenja kao gnojiva i poboljšivača tla;

2) utvrditi utjecaj digestata na fizikalna i kemijska svojstva tla;

3) utvrditi utjecaj digestata da dinamiku hraniva u tlu i dostupnost hraniva biljci;

4) utvrditi utjecaj digestata na prinos i kvalitetu poljoprivredne kulture

5) utvrditi eventualni negativan utjecaj digestata na tlo i uzgajanu kulturu;

6) utvrditi gospodarsku isplativost primjene digestata

7) povećati znanje poljoprivrednika o održivoj uporabi digestata,

Activities

The research was conducted on 6 family farms by setting up fertilization experiments in 3 crops in crop rotation: corn, winter wheat and Italian ryegrass. The following were compared: fertilization with solid and liquid digestate, mineral fertilization and control without fertilization. Before each application, liquid and solid digestate samples from 3 biogas plants were analyzed. Before the start of the experiment, during waxing of corn, corn harvesting, wheat tillering, after wheat harvest and during the first swath of rye, the physical and chemical characteristics of the soil were investigated according to the fertilization variants. 

Activities

Istraživanje je provedeno na 6 OPG-ova postavljanjem gnojidbenih pokusa u 3 kulture u plodoredu: kukuruz, ozima pšenica i talijanski ljulj. Uspoređivane su: gnojidba s krutim i tekućim digestatom, mineralnim gnojivom i kontrola bez gnojidbe. Prije svake primjene analizirani su uzorci tekućih i krutih digestata iz tri bioplinska postrojenja. Prije početka pokusa, u voštanoj zriobi kukuruza, u berbi kukuruza, u busanju pšenice, nakon žetve pšenice i kod prvog otkosa ljulja istraživane su fizikalne i kemijske značajke tla po varijantama gnojidbe.  Utvrđen je prinos kultura i sadržaj minerala i teških metala u kukuruzu za silažu, zrnu kukuruza, zrnu ozime pšenice i sijenu talijanskog ljulja.

1 Practice Abstracts

The possibility of using digestate from 3 biogas plants as fertilizer and soil improver was investigated on the areas of 6 farms. 4 variants of fertilization were compared: fertilization with solid and liquid digestate, fertilization with only mineral fertilizer and control without fertilization. In crop rotation were grown: corn, winter wheat and It. ryegrass. The properties of the digestate, the physical and chemical characteristics of the soil, the yield and chemical composition of the plant material and the economic profitability of the fertilization variants were determined. It was established that solid and liquid digestate contain plant nutrients and organic matter and can be used as a substitute for mineral fertilizers in the fertilization of agricultural crops. The content of heavy metals above the max. permissible values was not determined in any digestate sample. Both types of digestate show a trend of a positive effect on the physical properties of the soil, but the solid digestate seems to be more effective in most aspects. With digestate, it was found that water retention in the soil is slightly better. Fertilization of the same surface with liquid and solid digestate did not increase the content of heavy metals in the soil. The yields of corn for silage, corn kernels and wheat kernels obtained when fertilizing with solid or liquid digestate mostly did not differ significantly from the yields obtained with fertilization with only mineral fertilizer. The content of heavy metals in corn for silage, corn grain, winter wheat grain and It. ryegrass hay from areas fertilized with digestates did not differ significantly. By comparing production costs and income, fertilization with liquid digestate is more profitable.

Na površinama 6 OPG-ova ispitana je mogućnost korištenja digestata iz 3 bioplinska postrojenja kao gnojiva i poboljšivača tla. Uspoređivane su 4 varijante gnojidbe: gnojidba krutim i tekućim digestatom, gnojidba samo mineralnim gnojivima i kontrola bez gnojidbe. U plodoredu su se uzgajali: kukuruz, ozima pšenica i tal. ljulj. Utvrđena su svojstva digestata, fizikalno-kemijska svojstva tla, prinos i kemijski sastav biljnog materijala te ekonomska isplativost varijanti gnojidbe. Utvrđeno je da kruti i tekući digestat sadrže biljna hranjiva i organsku tvar te se mogu koristiti kao zamjena za mineralna gnojiva u gnojidbi poljoprivrednih kultura. Sadržaj teških metala iznad max. dopuštene vrijednosti nisu utvrđene niti u jednom uzorku digestata. Obje vrste digestata pokazuju trend pozitivnog učinka na fizikalna svojstva tla, no čini se da je kruti digestat u većini aspekata učinkovitiji. Kod digestata je utvrđeno nešto bolje zadržavanje vode u tlu. Gnojidba iste površine tekućim i krutim digestatom nije povećala sadržaj teških metala u tlu. Prinosi kukuruza za silažu, zrna kukuruza i zrna pšenice dobiveni gnojidbom krutim ili tekućim digestatom uglavnom se nisu značajno razlikovali od prinosa dobivenih gnojidbom samo mineralnim gnojivom. Sadržaj teških metala u kukuruzu za silažu, zrnu kukuruza, zrnu ozime pšenice i sijenu tal. ljulja s površina gnojenih digestatima nije se značajno razlikovalo. Usporedbom troškova proizvodnje i prihoda, gnojidba tekućim digestatom je isplativija.
